'The police are corrupt': Civil rights activists, Daunte Wright's family speak out

Civil rights groups and the family of Daunte Wright gathered for a press conference on Friday. Wright, a 20-year-old father shot and killed by a police officer, was pulled over for air fresheners hanging from his car’s rearview mirror. The former Brooklyn Center Police Chief said the officer, Kim Potter, meant to discharge her taser and not her gun. Since the shooting, Potter has resigned. On Wednesday, she was arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter. Activists and the families of victims of police violence said “the police are corrupt.”
