'The right to breathe is on trial': NAACP President talks Chauvin trial

Day four of the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin featured testimony from George Floyd’s girlfriend, paramedics who responded and Chauvin’s former supervisor. Derrick Johnson, NAACP’s President and CEO, joined Sharon Reed on “George Floyd Death: Justice on Trial” to discuss the trial’s fourth day. Johnson said, “The right to breathe is on trial.” As the trial resumes for Chauvin, Floyd’s family is still dealing with their loss. “Derek Chauvin is being provided the due process George Floyd was denied,” he said. “But when those officers got on the scene they decided to convict and sentence to death without any due process.” Citing the viral video of Floyd’s death, he said no level of argument can destroy the evidence in the trial.
