An Alabama city leader named Tommy Bryant is under heavy scrutiny after using a racial slur during a council meeting.
It took place in Tarrant, Alabama, where according to the latest Census numbers, itβs 53% Black.
Bryantβs wife allegedly used a racial slur on social media. He deflected on responding about his wife and told a Black colleague to stand up after he so boldly and comfortably asked if there were any House N-words in the room.
Brittney Cooper, who is an Africana Studies professor at Rutgers University, joins βPrimeβ to discuss the controversy and the definition of racism.
