Afghanistan is now waking up to a new reality.
The US military has withdrawn all of its troops, ending America’s longest war that left nearly 2,500 American troops dead and spanned four presidencies.
So what’s next for the country and the Americans and Afghan allies still there?
Officials say over 120,000 people were evacuated before today’s deadline.
However, 98 countries have agreed to receive Afghan refugees in the wake of the U.S withdrawal from the country.
Senate officials signed a bill earlier that would grant temporary assistance to U.S citizens returning to the country.
President Joe Biden addressed the nation and discussed his decision to keep today’s deadline.
Counterterrorism expert Malcolm Nance spoke with Roland Martin about the Fall of Afghanistan and the end of America’s longest war.
