Tulsa Massacre: Vernon AME Church Only Black-Owned Building to Survive the Massacre

Charles Blow talks about the Vernon A.M.E. Church that survived the race massacre in 1921. He is joined by the Rev. Robert Turner of the church to talk about the centennial and commemorating the massacre.

β€œToday, it’s the only standing Black-owned building that remains from the massacre,” Blow says.

β€œIt is that resilience of faith that’s birthed Black churches,” Turner says. β€œIt is that resilience of faith that birthed Black culture.”
