Though Republicans demanded Vice President Kamala Harris visit the border, she was criticized for choosing El Paso, Texas as her site visit because it is technically miles away from where the majority of migrants actually cross over. Â
El Paso is where more than 3,000 children, including babies, were separated from their families while crossing the border during the Stephen Miller, Jeff Sessions and Steve Bannon era of America. They justified the separations as a “law and order zero-tolerance policy,” while President Biden considers it a tragedy. As of February, only seven children were reunited with their families. Texas activist Xorje Olivares joins Nayyera Haq, guest host of “Prime with Charles Blow,” to discuss immigration. Â
