Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin spoke with Roland Martin about the removal of the Confederate Soldiers and Sailors monument from a public park.
Woodfin told Martin, “We did the right thing.”
“There’s a lot of revisionist history here people need to remember … Any form of celebrating the Confederate is un-American. We need to remember that it was treason for those who wanted to break away from our country,” said Woodfin.
During their discussion, Roland and Mayor Woodfin also discussed the stark contrast between Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden.
The mayor of Birmingham explained “It’s an easy choice” between the two and that everyone should be behind Biden because “what we currently have at the White House simply is not working for Americans and our country.”
