COVID-19 cases are rising across the country as states continue to reopen and lift coronavirus restrictions. Start Your Day hosts Sharon Reed and Mike Hill opened the show with discussion about the rising cases and continued vaccine hesitancy. Reed said she understands why people are confused about variants, but masks must still be worn. “Just keep doing the right thing. You’ll have some freedom,” she said. Hill said we need to remain focused and compared the COVID-19 pandemic to running a race. “We’re right there. We can see the finish line, but if we continue to go down this path and we continue to push back, the race becomes longer and the finish line gets pushed a little bit further,” he said. Citing opening day for Major League Baseball, both hosts say people need to listen to science and the experts studying COVID-19.
