R. Kelly’s racketeering and sex trafficking trial is in recess until Sept. 9.
The trial has lasted for 12 days as jurors heard emotional and graphic testimony from several women, including the late singer Aaliyah, named as official complaining witnesses. Several other women and one man took the stand and shared similar stories of surviving sexual, physical and emotional abuse.
Kelly is charged with one count of racketeering and eight violations of an anti-sex trafficking law. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Veteran trial attorney and former public defender, Masai Lord, joins Yodit Tewolde on “Making the Case” to discuss what’s next in the trial.
