Why Thanksgiving Is a Day of Mourning for Native Americans

While many may be sitting down to a Thanksgiving meal tomorrow and giving thanks for all that they have, others will commemorate the day as a National Day of Mourning, because it is a painful reminder of the horrific history and oppression experienced by Native Americans.

In 2019, Charles Blow wrote, β€œLike so much of American history, the story has had its least attractive features winnow away β€” white people have been centered in the narrative and all atrocity has been politely papered over.”

Jean-Luc Pierite, president of the North American Indian Center of Boston, joins Charles Blow on β€œPrime” to discuss.

All this and more on β€œPrime.”
