The announcement of Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms not running for re-election opened the floodgates of candidates for the 2021 mayoral election.
There are fourteen eligible candidates who are bidding for the seat, former Mayor Kasim Reed is the most prominent name on the list.
However, City Council President Felicia Moore, council-members Andre Dickens, Antonio Brown, and attorney Sharon Gay lead the polls.
Demographic shifts in Atlanta’s population could also have an interesting impact on the mayoral election. As a result of population shifts the city could elect its first white mayor since 1974.
Voters will head to the polls on November 2.
