It’s official!
Democratic U.S. Rep. Val Demings is launching her campaign to unseat Florida Republican U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio.
If she wins the Democratic primary, Demings will face a tough general election fight against Rubio.
Florida is a Republican state, and they have dominated statewide races for more than a decade. The last time a Democrat won a Senate seat in Florida was in 2012.
On Wednesday, Roland spoke with Glynda Carr, President and CEO of Higher Heights for America, and Melanie Campbell, the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of National Coalition on Black Civic Participation about Demings run for Senate.
