Black Unemployment Rate Higher Than National Average

Charles Blow opens up โ€œPrimeโ€ by discussing the newly released jobs numbers. The U.S. economy added 194,000 jobs in September, resulting in the unemployment rate hitting 4.8%.

Despite the low unemployment rate, unemployment in the Black community remains high at 7.9%.

โ€œAccording to an analysis by the Washington Post, even Black people with college degrees have a higher unemployment rate than white Americans with only a high school education,โ€ Blow says.

Professor of economics and international relations at Michigan State University, Lisa Cook and associate professor of economics at Colorado State University, Dr. Guy Numa, join โ€œPrimeโ€ to talk about Fridayโ€™s job report.
