Derek Chauvin trial: Judge Cahill to question jurors on day eight in the jury selection process

Day eight of the jury selection process in the Derek Chauvin trial will begin with Judge Cahill questioning jurors who have already been seated. Cahill will decide if those jurors have been biased by the $27M settlement awarded to George Floyd’s family. BNC Legal Correspondent Candace Kelley joined Start Your Day with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to discuss the trial and what could happen as the jury selection process continues. Kelley says the prosecution and defense are both running out of peremptory strikes and Derek Chauvin’s legal team is trying to get a previous arrest involving George Floyd into evidence in an attempt to show jurors that Floyd had a history with drugs. There are currently nine jurors seated and five more are needed. Jurors may be eliminated after their discussions with Judge Cahill on Wednesday.
