In an interview that aired Sunday, Meghan and Harry spoke to Oprah about their experiences as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Start Your Day hosts Sharon Reed and Mike Hill opened the show with their thoughts on Oprah’s interview.
Meghan and Harry discussed various topics, including losing royal protection, comments made about their son Archie’s skin color, and Meghan contemplating suicide. Reed called the alleged actions from Buckingham Palace gross and added that she might not support the royal family’s future events.
“The whole thing, it’s just so gross,” Reed said.
Hill said it made him think about his daughters and how he’d feel if they needed help the way Meghan did. “I’m happy and sad to hear what she went through when she was contemplating suicide. I’m happy that she used the platform to talk about that because people need to hear about that more often to know that they are not alone,” he said. “[I’m] sad to know that this beautiful sister was over there and she wasn’t able to get any help because they didn’t get her any help.”
The hosts also expressed a desire to know who commented about the skin color of the couple’s son.
