Kasim Reed formally entered Atlanta’s mayoral race last week. He made the announcement at his 52nd birthday fundraiser, saying “I’m back.” The politician served as mayor of Atlanta from 2010 – 2017.
Reed joins “Start Your Day” to speak about seeking a third term, which would make history. One of the reasons he is seeking another term is to clean up the increase in violence that has happened in Georgia’s capital.
“I am getting into the race because the city of Atlanta is in one of the most perilous conditions I have seen it in,” Reed says. “We have crime that has been soaring in a manner that I have not seen in my lifetime.”
The former mayor believes he can tackle the issues because he has done it before.
Reed addresses the tax controversy around members of his previous administration, and vows to have greater transparency in the future
